By compositing several snow ground images, you can add a first coat of snow on your ground to use as a base. There are many hidden functions inside the tools that help us work faster, but there are also plugins that can introduce us to new design solutions. The Main Enscape Interface within Revit and other applications has been simplified compared to previous versions. In SketchUp, we can achieve almost everything.

For the Texture Projection command, you may find many different plugins that can fix the geometry of a texture, and also do other stuff for you. In this tutorial, we showed you the simplest way to fix the “broken” materials through SketchUp. As you can see in the image below, the material now fits perfectly on the bed sheet. Now, we only need to select the surface that we want, and paint it. By selecting the material this way, we also select the projected ability that we selected earlier. Our next step is to select the material with the “Sample paint” tool, as shown in the image below. This way, we are giving the material the ability to be placed on any surface. Then we select Texture and the Texture Projected. First of all, we select the flat surface with the material that we want to use, and right-click once on it. In order to solve this problem in SketchUp, we follow the nest steps. In the image below, we notice that the material that we added does not fit properly on the triangular surfaces of the bed, and as a result it does not look continuous. If we attempt to paint anything, with a texture such as the one on the right, we will not have the desirable result. In order to see the geometry, you need to go on the SketchUp menu and click on View->Hidden Geometry. As you see, the model’s geometry is divided in multiple triangles. As we can see in the image below, the bed cover on the left seems to be very well designed, and so we can paint it with the texture on the right.īut if we look a bit closer, we will see that the geometry of the model is not suitable for us to add this specific texture.

This may happen many times, as these models are not compatible with SketchUp, and the reason of that is the different perception of design that each software has.īut now, let’s see what is happening with the textures, and how we can find a solution to this problem, through SketchUp. Another reason this may be happening, is because we may have imported into SketchUp a 3D model that was created in a different 3D design software.

All these different plugins that we use in order to design complex 3D models, most of the times create random geometrical shapes on the models, and as a result, the curves may look perfect and round, but the material does not fit properly. This happens mostly, because of the geometrical design of the object. You may have noticed, that sometimes, when you want to paint a curved surface, the material that you paint it with, does not fit properly.

Today, I will show you how to add textures on surfaces, without them “breaking” and getting distorted.
